Nápad nahrať uspávanky vznikol v roku 2015, vtedy mal presne toľko, ako náš najstarší syn Jonatán Amos – štrnásť. Tak dlho mi trvalo, kým som sa dostal k tomu, aby som ich pre naše (a ďalšie) deti naozaj nahral. Pomohli mi k tomu hlavne moji kamaráti, skvelí hudobníci – Boris, Braňo, Marcel, Štefan. Spájajú nás nielen profesionálne a priateľské vzťahy, ale aj skutočnosť, že sme všetci otcovia menších či väčších detí.
Uspávanky zo Slovenska – západného, stredného či východného ale aj rusínske, moldavské či dokonca jedna chorvátska. Každý z hudobníkov mal za úlohu vybrať uspávanky, ktoré ho oslovujú, ku ktorým má svoj osobný vzťah. A tie aj každý sám zaranžoval.
Vznikli tak skladby, ktoré dieťa ako poslucháča nepodceňujú. Naopak, cenia si ho ako drahocenný poklad, ktorý sa dokáže rozvíjať každou počutou a nami zahratou notou. Skutočnosť, že deti môžu počúvať tieto piesne v tej najintímnejšej chvíli, pri zaspávaní, je pre nás výsada a zodpovednosť priniesť niečo špeciálne.
My idea of recording lullabies is about as old as my oldest son, Jonatán Amos. And at the time of recording, he was already 14… So it took me 14 years to actually record them for our (and other) children. It was my amazing musician friends, Boris, Braňo, Marcel and Štefan who helped me get here. It’s not only professional and personal ties that bind us, but also the fact that we are all fathers of younger or older children.
Together we chose, arranged and recorded lullabies from Slovakia – western, central and eastern – as well as Ruthenia, Moldova and even one from Croatia. Each musician had the task of choosing a lullaby that resonated with him, that he was personally drawn to. Some developed their own arrangements, and in many cases they worked together on joint arrangements. In this way, compositions were made that a child listener would not just take for granted. On the contrary, children treasure these songs like jewels that reveal themselves more each time they are heard and with each note that is played. The fact that children can listen to these songs in the most intimate moment, when they are falling asleep, is a privileged opportunity for us, and we took it as a responsibility to create something special.
I hope all of you, grown-up or little, will enjoy listening and falling asleep to them…

Ich základom sú melódie, ktoré patria k takej samozrejmej výbave našej kultúrnej pamäte, až sa im občas stáva, že sú nedocenené, ak nie zaznávané. Tvorcom, ktorí sa podieľali na vzniku tejto pocty čistej kráse ukrytej v prostote hudobného výrazu sa podarilo nielen nanovo ju objaviť, ale aj povýšiť na suverénne malé hudobné diela a dať jej vzrušujúco moderný výraz.”
This album breathes a melancholic beauty from the first measure. And this feeling stays with the listener not only until the end of the album, but reverberates in them for so long that they cannot resist listening to it again.
